an email from the me six months ago.

Dear FutureMe,

As you are reading this, you have made it thorugh the first month of your sophomore year at a new school. There are a few things that I would like to say before I start to ask questions.

Although I don't tell you this enough, I love you. No matter how much I have hated you and mistreated you, you are the most amazing person in the world. I am so proud of all of the things that you have accomplished. I know that getting to this point in time has been a difficult feat, but you're here now and that is was matters most. I hope that even if your first month at the new school did not go well that every month after this one will. It has got to be hard to be the new kid on the block.

Now that I have told you this, I would like to ask you a few things. How are you feeling? Did the kids welcome you with open arms, or did they try and push you away? How does your first month as a sophomore at a new school compare to freshman year, where you knew at least one person? Is it different to move now than it had been when you were younger? Have you finally decided on a proper name instead of pointless nicknames? How are the teachers? Do you have any new friends already? And most importantly, though it's not entirely related, how are you and Kady?

I hope you are doing well with your courses. I know that Pre-IB wore you down last year, but don't give up to soon. Look at the awards that you will be able to have in the long run, and how it will benefit your future to stick with this. Remember, I am always going to be your biggest fan.

Always,PastMe.

it makes me so sad that i cannot answer some of those questions in the way that i had hoped to answer them.
i miss the old me.

Without hope, the us's give up - I know you cannot live on hope alone, but without it, life is not worth living. So you, and you, and you... You gotta give em' hope... you gotta give em' hope. -Harvey Milk, Milk(2008)
