Things I'm Doing Next Year

Next year, I will be a junior, and if I finish my CAS hours by May 14th, I am going to be inducted into the International Baccalaureate Programme. Which, if you don't know, is a BIG deal. There's schools with IB programmes all over the world, and in America (and possibly the whole world), only an average of 40-80 people graduate in each class. It is a real extensive programme, and to even get in to the ACTUAL programme, you have to be able to handle a LOT of pressure and maintain at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA, which translates to a 4.0 almost when weighted due to the courses. (True facts. Last semester I had about a 3.1 unweight because of the problems with my family, and my weighted is about 3.6, but I'm only half weighted because I'm only halfway to IB)

Along with that, I am going to be looking into colleges and talking to admissions coordinators and what have you. I am looking at schools mostly in the West-coast, Southwest regions, a couple in the Southeast regions(Since I am allowed to go to college in FL for free!), and one or two up in the Mid-Atlantic/New England areas. My favorites that I've gotten information from are Prescott, Yale, and Columbia. I also have gotten a small thing from Berkley, so... I guess you could say I'm really excited, because in a few years I will finally be putting all of my hard-earned money to its duty!

The biggest thing, I believe, is this one. I'M RUNNING FOR CLASS PRESIDENT! I came up with the idea today, and I was pretty sure NOBODY would vote for me. The reaction from the 10+ people I asked? Yes, they would. Then there were the ones that said they would if I ran against somebody they didn't like. The person that might run, nobody really likes. So, I've practically got it in the bag! I am just so excited because I'm PRETTY sure Senior Class President speaks at the graduation, before even the Valedictorian! So maybe I won't be number one, but being number fifteen and still speaking is great!

Without hope, the us's give up - I know you cannot live on hope alone, but without it, life is not worth living. So you, and you, and you... You gotta give em' hope... you gotta give em' hope. -Harvey Milk, Milk(2008)
